Manually Inflatable PFD's
Manually inflatable PFD's will only inflate when a cord or handle is physically pulled by the wearer. They will not inflate even when fully submerged unless the wearer performs this action. This might be desirable if the wearer might expect to inadvertently end up getting wet without needing to deploy the lifejacket. An example might be surf fishing, certain types of sailing or similar activities. It is important to note that manually inflatable PFD's are not recommended for people who cannot swim or for activities where there is a likelihood that the wearer could be incapacitated by injury or any other reason.
